Wisdom Recipes 4Life: Hope.

Adobe Spark (2)

The word hope is described as an optimistic feeling or anticipation of good things to come. Pessimists refer to hope as being idealistic or unrealistic. Try for a minute to live your life without any hope.  You can compare life without hope to turning a vibrant, colorful photograph into a black and white picture right before your very eyes. So, how do you tell someone who has experienced a recent traumatic event in their life or loss to be hopeful? Well, you don’t in those circumstances, at least not right away.

Wisdom Recipes 4Proverbs & Psalms: Proverbs 15:18 – Anger

Before you respond in anger, think before you react to someone. It is better to not respond at all while angry than to react out of spite and say something you might regret later. If you know you are a person that has a short fuse, work on ways of becoming more patient.

Wisdom Recipes 4Proverbs & Psalms: Fear Not Your Enemies.

When we fear-less and trust more in a Higher Power, even our enemies lose grip over our lives. We are not affected by the flying arrows of insults, backstabbing shenanigans to harms us, and tactics meant to bring us down. We stand up in courage and sleep peacefully at night knowing we have given our best, made amends whenever necessary and blessed our enemies.

Human Nature

When someone hurts us, it is human nature to experience anger, confusion, hurt and disappointment. We may have an array of emotions. Sometimes people hurt us intentionally out of their own character flaws of pride and selfishness. Sometimes people may unintentionally hurt us based upon our or their unresolved issues of the past or by crossing a boundary.  Whatever is the reason – it is in our own best interest emotionally, mentally, and physical well-being to process what has happened, communicate our concerns with the person who has hurt us and set a boundary for self-protection. To carry around anger hurts, and resentments for an extended period of time keeps us in bondage to our emotions and the person who has hurt us.

Wisdom Recipes 4Life: Phases

Moving into a new phase of life, sometimes we try to bring things from the past with us. When one phase of life begins, it may call for needed endings. For instance, when a cocoon lays dormant to survive into the metamorphosis phase of becoming a butterfly, the butterfly must leave the cocoon behind. As ending a new job to pursue something better or ending a relationship from the past, we physically must leave the old job behind, but also, we should depart from anything holding us back from succeeding in our current job or relationship.

Keeping it Authentic: Yesterday People.

Yesterday people

Do you know who yesterday people are and how they may affect your life?  Yesterday people live in the past.  They point out other people’s past mistakes but rarely acknowledge the positive.  Yesterday people hide behind a cloak of judgemental attitudes to deflect from the shame of their own past.  Yesterday people tend to point out the errors of others; rarely, if ever, talk about their own mistakes.  Yesterday people consider other people’s mistakes worse than their own.  Unless you have a strong sense of who you are, yesterday people will drag you back in the past and keep you there.  You will never be able to measure up to their self-righteousness, judgmental, perfectionist stick. With that said, you can protect yourself from so-called acquaintances, co-workers, and family members, who want to pull you back in the past and prevent you from moving forward.
